Next Wow Expansion?  South Seas or Northrend?

Many fans ignore there is already additional lore about the South Seas. The Blizzard-licensed book is titled World of Warcraft RPG: Lands of Mystery. This book contains details of each isle in the South Seas with detailed maps.

The same book contains full map of Northrend divided by regions, and a lot of new and old lore per region. This material is obviously going to be used in future expansions. I recommend fans to get ahold of this book. Some years ago, the RPG Book Shadow and Light got to talk about Outland and the Burning Crusade. Not long after, Blizzard announced Burning Crusade expansion. Got the drift?

The Wow Collector’s Edition (2004) came with a Developers: Behind the Scenes DVD. A few of the slideshow images shown while the Devs talked, contained maps of Undermine and a world-map showing Northrend on a whiteboard. The maps were hand-drawn with magic markers.

These maps showed Isle of Kezan (where Undermine is located) as a major transportation hub with Zeppelin and boat routes going to Ratchet, Booty Bay, Kul’Tiras and Valgarde (Northrend). Check out the maps:

World of Warcraft RPG: Lands of Mystery was released on 2006. Two years after the Wow Collector’s Edition. There is a strong chance the South Seas could be the next expansion. Another rumor is Northrend and South Seas could be released in the same expansion. Icecrown and Arthas could remain closed for a later expansion. After all there is a lot of places still closed in Wow Vanilla still. Here is the full map of Northrend and its regions (SPOILERS):

World of Warcraft: Lands of Mystery is fully narrated by Prospector Brann Bronzebeard who visited Northrend, South Seas and Kalimdor. Old Brann even dove into the Maelstrom to explore Nazjatar, using a magical helmet and reported what he found down there. The Well of Eternity might still be deep in the ocean floor according to him.

The RPG Books are supervised and approved by Chris Metzen (Blizzard VP of Creative Design) before going to print. Wow: Lands of Mystery was published by White Wolf Publishing (Arthaus) and directed by RPG/d20 developer Luke Johnson.
